This recruitment is to fill current and future vacancies within the Health & Human Services Agency in Visalia, CA.
The role involves processing health insurance and private pay billings for patient/client accounts, reviewing new patient records to determine coverage classifications such as private insurance, Medi-Cal, or Medicare, verifying billing codes, requesting additional documentation to process claims, resubmitting claim rejections and denials, updating patient data, reviewing charges for accuracy, and contacting insurance companies regarding payment discrepancies.
Candidates must have basic medical terminology knowledge, health insurance billing guidelines, electronic billing systems experience, and standard office practices skills including filing and recordkeeping. Math skills for computing payment amounts and balances, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines are essential.
One year of experience independently billing patient accounts, or three years processing patient accounts including Medi-Cal, Medicare, and private pay, is required.
Desirable qualifications include knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes, FHQC billing guidelines, and multilingual Spanish skills.

- Equivalent to completion of 12th grade.
- Minimum of 1 year independent billing experience or 3 years processing patient accounts including Medi-Cal, Medicare, private pay.
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology, health insurance billing guidelines, electronic billing systems.
- Skills in communication, operating office equipment, typing 30 WPM accurately.
- Ability to handle deadlines, organize workload, and work independently.
Desirables:
- Knowledge of ICD-9, CPT codes, FHQC billing.
- Spanish language proficiency.
- Medical Billing, Coding, Front/Back Office Certificate or License from a vocational school.
