Revenue Cycle Denials Analyst

Richmond University Medical Center

Richmond University Medical Center is seeking a Revenue Cycle Denials Analyst to join their team. This role focuses on denial monitoring, review, and tracking of technical billing denials across all payers. Responsibilities include analyzing denial patterns using CARC/RARC codes, investigating root causes such as registration errors, eligibility, authorization, coding, and medical necessity issues, maintaining centralized denial logs, and performing trend and root-cause analysis to identify preventable denials.

The analyst prepares detailed denial reports and dashboards, supports Denials Steering Committee governance, collaborates on process improvement with various departments, monitors payer policy changes, supports audit processes with data analysis, and ensures compliance with CMS, HIPAA, and payer requirements.

This position requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in Excel and denial/billing software (e.g., Meditech, Epic), and in-depth knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payer denial rules. The role supports a shift from denial recovery to denial prevention within the hospital's revenue cycle.

Requirements & Qualifications

Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of 3 years hospital revenue cycle or denial management experience. Familiarity with UB-04 facility billing, payer remits, CARC/RARC codes, and OPPS/APC/DRG methodologies is strongly preferred. Strong analytical and data interpretation skills are necessary. Effective communication skills across clinical and administrative departments, high attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills are essential.
