Duties:
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories.
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature to monitor patient health status.
- Prepare patients for examinations or procedures in dermatology and surgical units.
- Support physicians with clinical tasks such as wound dressing changes, surgical procedures and specimen collection.
- Document clinical notes accurately using medical terminology and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding for billing and record-keeping purposes.
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, offering reassurance, and ensuring a welcoming environment in diverse healthcare settings.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program; certification must be current.
- Proven experience working in outpatient clinics, hospital environments, surgery or specialty areas such as dermatology.
- Experience in surgical procedures is required.
- Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to support accurate patient assessments and documentation.
- Experience with EHR systems for efficient charting and data management.
- Familiarity with hospital protocols and OR (Operating Room) procedures.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient care excellence; ability to handle intake processes smoothly in fast-paced settings like urgent care or hospital medicine.
