Medical Assistant

Gastro Florida is the largest gastroenterology group in Tampa Bay with over 65 providers and over 25 locations in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando and Polk counties. They offer GI screening treatment, colon cancer prevention, non-surgical cancer intervention, IBD infusion therapy, nutrition and weight loss services, monitoring between visits, pharmacy and pathology services, and the latest therapies including clinical research to provide an integrated patient experience.

This role is ideal for someone confident in a fast-paced outpatient environment, comfortable with high volume patient loads, and able to integrate quickly with minimal training.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient check-in and check-out
• Insurance verification
• Patient intake, vitals, medication reconciliation
• Completing medication refills and processing medication prior authorizations
• Order entry, CPT coding, supporting providers with documentation
• Understanding common medications used to treat chronic conditions
• Strong proficiency with eClinicalWorks (ECW)
• Managing fax inbox with timely review, routing, and documentation
• Scheduling patient appointments, follow-ups, procedures (Colon, EGD), and coordinating provider workflows

Qualifications:

• Previous specialty office care experience required
• Previous GI experience helpful
• Reliable attendance essential
• Ability to float to different locations as needed
• Immediate availability preferred
