Join WellMed, part of the Optum family, as a Quality Medical Assistant dedicated to enhancing patient care through clinical quality coordination. You will coordinate HEDIS and STARs data gathering, ensuring high-quality medical record reviews and supporting improvements in clinical documentation.
Key responsibilities include reviewing medical records to identify care gaps, partnering with leadership and staff to improve outcomes, monitoring quality data, supporting chart chase processes, and maintaining expertise in HEDIS/STARs measures. Assist with local IRR audits and navigate multiple documentation systems to support measure compliance.
Ideal candidates hold Medical Assistant certification with at least 3 years healthcare experience including managed care settings, have strong data analysis and chart review skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health records, and knowledge of medical terminology. BLS certification and experience mentoring others are required.
Preferred qualifications include Licensed Vocational/Registered Nurse or Certified Professional Coder credentials, experience with HEDIS/STAR compliance, ICD-9/10 and CPT coding skills, and previous roles in physician/provider offices.
This role requires up-to-date immunizations and TB screening, with physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting up to 10 pounds and standing for extended periods.
