Navista is an oncology practice alliance supporting community oncology providers and patients through their cancer journeys. Cardinal Health is seeking a Senior Coordinator, Financial Counseling to support patients and providers by ensuring accurate financial clearance, patient education, and identification of financial risk prior to services.
This role enhances the Revenue Cycle by improving reimbursement outcomes, minimizing financial risk, and improving patient experience via proactive, transparent financial communication.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing daily patient schedules to identify those needing financial clearance
- Educating patients on deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, out-of-pocket maximums
- Communicating costs and payment expectations clearly
- Assisting patients to understand financial obligations before services
- Evaluating financial risks such as coverage limitations, medical necessity, frequency limits, out-of-network benefits
- Identifying accounts at risk of patient balance or denied claims and escalating high-risk cases
- Collaborating with clinical and admin teams to reduce claim denials
- Documenting all financial discussions accurately and maintaining HIPAA compliance
- Providing excellent customer service and supporting operational excellence
Qualifications:
- Minimum 4 years' experience in healthcare business office or revenue cycle role preferred
- Strong knowledge of insurance, benefits, and patient financial assistance programs
- Understanding of oncology treatment pathways and billing for high-cost oncology drugs and infusion services preferred
- Experience with billing systems, EOB interpretation, EMR, registration/PMS, verification of benefits, auths, financial clearance
- Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding, managed care concepts
- Strong organizational, analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Experience in oncology or specialty care preferred
