Patient Financial Services Representative

Fairview is seeking a Patient Financial Services Representative to join their team. This full-time position involves supporting patients and internal teams with billing inquiries, payment processing, insurance follow-up, and providing excellent customer service in a collaborative environment. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8-hour daytime shifts, with the possibility to work virtually after training and meeting department expectations.

The role includes billing and collection of accounts receivable for inpatient and outpatient accounts, ensuring full payment collection, resolving complex customer service issues, and evaluating and securing appropriate financial resources for proper adjudication.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prevent revenue shortfalls by resolving financial transactions and escalating issues as needed
  • Complete daily work assignments accurately and timely
  • Follow departmental best practice routines
  • Identify continuous process improvements and provide feedback
  • Resolve accounts efficiently, targeting single-touch resolution
  • Understand revenue cycle and ensure appropriate reimbursements from insurance or patients
  • Contact payers via portals or service centers to resolve accounts
  • Process external and internal correspondence professionally and timely
  • Verify insurance and patient demographics
  • Understand payment expectations and adjust accounts accordingly
  • Educate patients/guarantors on patient liabilities
  • Comply with relevant laws, regulations, policies, and standards

Preferred qualifications include at least 1 year experience in a medical billing office, proficiency with MS Office, insurance follow-up experience, coordination of benefits, and familiarity with Epic, Brightree, Billing Bridge or comparable software.
