Self Pay Representative (IRCM)

The Self-Pay Representative manages patient-responsible accounts from initial billing through final resolution, including patient outreach, phone communication, balance explanation, payment processing, payment arrangements, financial assistance screening, documentation, and statement review.

Key responsibilities include communicating with patients to resolve balances, educating them on account details and payment options, negotiating payments and arrangements, screening for financial assistance, and maintaining accurate documentation.

The role involves phone and administrative tasks, collaboration with internal teams, and adherence to confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and company policies.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma/GED with 1-2 years experience in healthcare self-pay, patient financial services, billing, or call center environments. Experience with hospital EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech is preferred.

Strong communication, customer service, and de-escalation skills are essential, as is the ability to explain financial information compassionately.

Ability to work remotely with a dedicated workspace and cable internet is available.

Requirements & Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required. 1-2 years experience in healthcare self-pay, patient financial services, billing office, or healthcare call center preferred. Experience with hospital or clinic EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech preferred. Strong customer service, communication, and de-escalation skills. Ability to explain financial information clearly and compassionately. Basic understanding of insurance processing and patient responsibility preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Internet, and hospital EHR/accounting systems. Ability to meet productivity, quality, and compliance expectations in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work remotely with dedicated workspace and cable internet. Must pass post-offer drug test and background check.
