The Financial Counselor will proactively identify delinquent patient accounts and contact patients before appointments to discuss balances and payment options, collaborating with front desk staff to support collections. The role involves communicating with patients to explain financial policies, insurance coverage, and payment plans; assessing financial status and establishing payment arrangements.
Additional responsibilities include preparing patient correspondence per policies and regulations, reviewing reports to monitor account activity, processing and posting patient payments accurately and timely, responding to inquiries regarding accounts, resolving billing concerns, and collaborating with the Accounts Receivable team to support revenue cycle operations.

Requirements include at least a High School Diploma or GED, minimum one year of billing or front desk experience in healthcare, knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA, customer service principles, and basic Microsoft Office and EMR systems proficiency. Skills in time management, problem solving, multitasking, communication, and detail orientation are essential. Ability to work independently and maintain effective relationships with coworkers and patients is required.
