As a professional individual, the classroom Lead Teacher works closely with the Assistant Center Director/Program Coordinator to provide and maintain a positive and appropriate educational program that meets the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of the children within their care.
The primary focus of the Lead Teacher is the provision of high-quality programming within their assigned classroom. This must include family-centered practices; developmentally, individually, and culturally appropriate practices and intentional teaching; and program support.
The classroom Lead Teacher must be committed to best practices, passionate about early education, knowledgeable about recommended practices for their age group, and able to support and mentor fellow educators.
Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing daily operations ensuring compliance with licensing and quality standards
- Developing and implementing age-appropriate curricula
- Managing staff recruitment, training, and evaluations
- Fostering a positive learning environment
- Communicating regularly with parents
- Ensuring children's safety and well-being through health protocols
- Collaborating with local schools and educational organizations
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) with CPL level III, or Bachelor's degree in ECE or related field
- 1+ year experience as a Lead Teacher, Teacher, or Assistant Teacher
- Certified in First Aid, CPR, and Mandated Reporting
- Ability to pass criminal background check and drug screening
- Knowledge of state licensing and accreditation
- Good communication skills
- Ability to use educational technology
- Physical capability to handle children up to 60 lbs
- Bilingualism is a plus
