Medical Records Technician (Tumor Registry)

This position is located at the 99th Medical Group at Nellis AFB, NV.

The Medical Records Technician (Tumor Registry) compiles and maintains a comprehensive cancer database utilizing the Automated Central Tumor Registry (ACTUR). Responsibilities include reviewing standard and electronic patient medical records, contacting patients, physicians, and healthcare facilities for registry follow-up information, assisting with quality assurance studies in the Tumor Registry, and performing quality assurance of case-finding, abstracting, staging, coding of data, and follow-up procedures.

Appointment may require suitability determination, background investigation, immunization screening, and working weekends/holidays.

Candidates must be US Citizens and meet specialized experience or education requirements related to medical records administration or health information administration.

The position offers a salary range of $51,542 to $67,006 annually, is full-time and permanent, with occasional travel up to 5%. Located at Nellis AFB, NV, this is a direct hire with potential incentives available.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • One year of specialized experience maintaining cancer registry records, coding patient data, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance (equivalent to GS-06 level) OR
  • A half year (9 semester hours) of graduate-level education in Medical Records Administration or Health Information Administration OR
  • A combination of education and experience equaling 100% of the requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Suitability and background checks necessary
  • Immunization requirements including seasonal influenza and hepatitis B
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed
  • Trial/probationary period may be required
