The Medical Records Technician in the Health Information Management (HIM) department works full-time (80 hours bi-weekly) to coordinate, assemble, and examine medical documentation ensuring complete medical records and legal compliance. The role processes Requests for Information (ROI) according to hospital, state, and federal regulations while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
Key responsibilities include daily analysis of patient records, validating assignment of deficiencies to providers, collaborating with medical staff to complete charts timely, scanning medical records accurately, validating release of information requests and authorizations, handling patient health information requests via mail, fax, phone, or electronic means, and performing quality checks on scanned images.
Preferred licensure includes RHIT or RHIA. Education requirement is a high school diploma or GED. Previous experience in Medical Records or equivalent is required.
