The position is for a Health Systems Specialist within the Chief, Health Administration Service at the US Veterans Health Administration. The role includes quality management, data validation, coordination of automated management information systems, internal reviews, special projects, and overseeing the Health Administration Service Automated Data Processing applications.
Responsibilities include formulating plans and evaluating administrative management of Health Administration Service and Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA), developing major administration policies, identifying training needs, conducting feasibility studies, serving as the HAS ADP coordinator, training coordinator, and system report designer to support budgeting and quality assurance. The specialist coordinates submissions of systematic reviews and quality assurance monitors, acts as facility AMIS coordinator, ensures equipment functionality, collaborates with Technology Management Service for system implementations and troubleshooting, manages VistA software access, develops FILEMAN templates for audits, and maintains comprehensive system manuals.
Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm; this is not a remote position.
Candidates must be U.S. Citizens. Position requires specialized experience equivalent to GS-9 level or appropriate education in hospital administration, public health, or related fields with course work in health care administration. Experience must include analytical or administrative management roles in healthcare settings, knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, regulatory standards, and government administrative requirements.
Qualifications include analyzing healthcare operations, overseeing data validation and automated processing systems, preparing management reports for budgeting and quality assurance, and conducting analysis for improving patient demand and workload trends. A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in related fields or a combination of education and experience may substitute for experience.
Physical requirements are minimal, with a probationary period of one year for fitness evaluation. Subject to background check and security investigation. Participation in seasonal influenza vaccination program is mandatory for health care personnel.
