The Medical Records Administrator Specialist (MRAS) in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) manages health record programs and provides services related to medical record administration and health information services. The role assists in developing health information policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, collaborates with multiple departments to enhance health information management and patient care, participates in facility committees, supports billing and coding guidelines training, and performs process improvement techniques. The position requires proficiency in medical coding systems (ICD, CPT, HCPCS), reimbursement methodologies, and an understanding of medical and procedural terminology.
The role is under the supervision of the Chief of Health Information Management and is a full-time position based in Ann Arbor, Michigan with no telework or remote work options.
The selected candidate must be a U.S. citizen and meet specific certification requirements (AHIMA or AAPC coding certification, HIM certification, or Health Data Analyst certification). The experience level is associate with GS-11 grade equivalency.
Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
