Test Scheduling Specialist

We are seeking a Test Scheduling Specialist to enhance the patient experience by managing scheduling for procedures and tests. Key responsibilities include updating patient registration information, verifying benefits, and obtaining authorizations/pre-certifications for tests, surgeries, and visits. This role is essential in facilitating patient care and supports a positive patient experience.

The position offers the opportunity for remote work after full training.

Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver high-level customer service in scheduling procedures and tests.
  • Update patient registration details and scan insurance cards.
  • Schedule requested procedures and follow-ups, and coordinate with departments to complete pre-certifications and benefit verification.
  • Provide patients with relevant information and instructions.
  • Reschedule or cancel procedures/tests as needed.
  • Collaborate with Medical Administrative Assistants and the Prior Authorization team to secure referrals and prior authorizations.
  • Verify eligibility and benefits for procedures.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record system (NextGen), including insurance and demographic information.
  • Collaborate respectfully with team members to ensure efficient scheduling workflows.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred 1-3 years of medical office or hospital experience; 2 years medical billing experience preferred.

Physical demands:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform telephone and computer work.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred 1-3 years of medical office or hospital experience.
  • Preferred 2 years medical billing experience.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with accuracy in data entry and scheduling.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (NextGen) is a plus.
