Medical Records Retrieval Specialist

Scanning Sherpas

This is an independent contractor position paying $1.00 - $50.00 per hour, with work based on available contracts that fluctuate throughout the year.

Responsibilities include traveling to various medical provider sites in the Cleveland, OH region to retrieve medical records, scheduling onsite appointments, communicating project progress with Scanning Sherpas personnel, and interacting professionally with provider office staff.

Candidates must be proficient with computers and hardware such as printers, scanners, and flash drives, as well as Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel). A reliable car and willingness to travel around Ohio are required, along with proficiency in medical terminology and medical records.

Applicants should be quick learners of new software, including EHR systems, able to work independently, and maintain professionalism in stressful situations. Strong communication skills in person, phone, and email are essential. Passing HIPAA and FWA training tests, criminal background check, and drug test are mandatory.

The role offers schedule flexibility, potential to increase earnings with no cap, and the opportunity to build long-lasting relationships with providers and staff.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Must reside in the Cleveland, OH area
  • Proficient with computers and hardware (printers, scanners, flash drives)

  • Proficient in medical terminology and medical records
  • Quick learner of new software programs, specifically EHR systems
  • Professional, amiable, and well-mannered under stress
  • Meticulous and clean workplace habits
  • Excellent communication skills in person, telephone, and email
  • Must pass HIPAA and FWA training tests
  • Must pass criminal background check and drug test
  • Strong cell and home internet connections
  • Preferred: 3 years medical records experience
