Medical Records Specialist

This is a fully on-site role based in North Scottsdale; remote or hybrid work is not available.

You will coordinate medical records off-site storage and retrieval, inventory tracking, pickup and delivery arrangements, and boxing of records following all state and federal guidelines and HIPAA requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate medical records requests in compliance with state and federal guidelines and HIPAA
  • Ensure receipt and log all payments for medical records requests
  • Communicate timely with internal and external customers about medical records requests
  • Implement communication and tracking to optimize the records request process
  • Produce timely and accurate reports related to medical records storage
  • Stay current on HIPAA requirements and educate others
  • Work with Revenue Cycle Manager on goals and expectations
  • Maintain open dialogue with team members
  • Participate in training, cross-training, and mentoring
  • Promote positive relationships with providers, patients, vendors, and customers
  • Assist in quality assurance and problem resolution
  • Help maximize productivity and company goals
  • Communicate with clients and patients as needed
  • Sort and distribute incoming mail to the accounting department accurately and timely

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED
  • Experience in medical records
  • Knowledge of HIPAA requirements and medical terminology
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills
  • Detail and customer-service oriented
  • Team-oriented with problem solving and goal-driven skills
