Patient Access Specialist - Outpatient Program

Helio Health is dedicated to treating and promoting recovery from substance use, mental health disorders, and other behavioral healthcare issues. The Patient Access Specialist (PAS) plays a key role by meeting with patients entering our programs to collect necessary data including insurance information to ensure payment for services. The PAS processes medical records and enters clinical data into our Health Information Technology (HIT) system to support healthcare providers.

This full-time position operates Monday through Friday at our Meadows CCBHC or West Onondaga Outpatient Programs, with variable shift times depending on the site location.

Responsibilities include conducting paperwork related to billing, collecting payments such as co-pays and self-pays, assisting patients with Medicaid applications, entering billing information into the HIT system, working with insurance companies and government agencies to resolve payment issues, obtaining pre-authorizations, and performing patient flow and reception desk duties as needed. Additionally, the PAS prepares Medicaid billing reports and completes chart audits.

Qualifications required a High School Degree or GED with an Associate’s degree preferred, excellent communication skills, knowledge of Medicaid and third-party claims procedures, proficiency with Microsoft Office, and experience in accounts receivables.
