The Clinical Coordinator acts as a liaison between their assigned physician and patients/families, staff, primary care physicians and other specialists, attorneys, vendors etc. This role ensures that physician schedules align with their protocols/needs and that the schedule supports smooth and effective patient care delivery. They coordinate incoming physician-related calls and assist the physician in managing professional responsibilities to meet workday requirements.
Responsibilities include responding to phone calls and directing them to appropriate staff, securing charts and test reports, registering and scheduling patient appointments, arranging legal depositions with records, preparing charts and documentation for clinic hours, sending prescriptions and notes, managing correspondence, distributing mail, updating workers' compensation carriers, completing various forms and permits, preparing physician schedules and handling schedule changes, securing releases and managing record requests, maintaining credentials and CME credits, managing special projects, securing insurance pre-certifications, and handling payments related to depositions and subpoenas.
Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, type 40 wpm with good spelling, be computer literate with knowledge of medical terminology, possess strong communication and phone skills, and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Pain management experience is preferred. A valid Illinois Driver's License is required.
Work is primarily indoors with extended periods of sitting, requires repetitive hand movement for data entry, and occasional travel by automobile.
