We are recruiting for a mission-driven Patient Access Specialist I - Denver Cares - Part Time - Evening to join our team!
Denver Health is an integrated, high-quality academic health care system with a Level I Trauma Center, acute care medical center, emergency medical response system, and multiple family and school-based health centers.
As a Patient Access Specialist, you serve as the first point of contact for patients and families across outpatient clinic registration areas. Your responsibilities include accurately registering and checking in patients, verifying identity and insurance information, discussing financial responsibilities such as co-pays and deductibles, and collecting payments at point of service.
You will work closely with clinical and support teams to promote timely access to care, efficient clinic flow, and a positive patient experience, supporting flexible coverage across various clinics.
Key tasks:
- Confirm patient identity and create encounters in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Verify and update demographic, guarantor, and insurance information
- Communicate financial responsibilities and collect payments
- Collaborate with clinic leadership and staff for efficient patient throughput
- Check insurance eligibility and benefits, identify requirements, and coordinate with Verification and Authorization teams
- Meet productivity and quality standards; participate in audits and improvement initiatives
- Provide coverage across departments as needed
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and organizational regulations including HIPAA and EMTALA
- Support training and onboarding of new hires
This position requires organization, attention to detail, effective communication, the ability to problem solve, prioritize workflow, multi-task, data entry skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Epic.
Education: No High School Diploma or GED required.

Salary: $21.00 - $24.93 per hour
