Front Desk Specialist

The Front Desk Specialist is responsible for the overall success of the front office functions of a busy ophthalmology practice. The role involves coordinating all practice activities to ensure smooth operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Greeting patients and visitors to the medical practice
  • Checking in and checking out patients
  • Booking patient appointments
  • Utilizing electronic health records such as Nextech EHR and Practice Plus
  • Verifying insurance for patient appointments
  • Registering patients in the practice management system
  • Collecting identification and insurance cards, scanning them into the medical record
  • Collecting co-pays and outstanding patient balances
  • Updating encounter forms with accurate patient information
  • Obtaining patient signatures on financial agreements and privacy policies
  • Handling phone calls, messages, and appointment scheduling
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Traveling daily between offices as needed (no overnight travel)

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a medical practice or hospital setting preferred
  • Experience in ophthalmology practice and Nextech EHR system preferred
  • Strong multitasking, telephone skills, customer service, time management, organization, attention to detail
  • Bilingual required
  • Professionalism, quality focus, team-driven attitude, ability to work in fast-paced environment

Requirements & Qualifications
  • At least High School Diploma
  • Minimum 1 year experience in medical or hospital setting preferred
  • Preferred experience in ophthalmology practice and use of Nextech EHR system
  • Strong multitasking, telephone, customer service, time management, and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and professionalism
  • Bilingual required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to travel daily between offices (no overnight travel)
