Coordinate centralized scheduling of all outpatient diagnostic and surgical procedures. Accurately collect and enter financial and demographic information for all registered patients.
Ensure verification of benefits and pre-certification requirements prior to appointments or admissions. Follow up on urgent or unscheduled registrations to maintain consistency.
Collect co-payments/deposits, generate receipts, and handle cash transactions properly. Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Recommend policy updates to improve efficiency and data integrity. Notify Financial Counselor about potential self-pay, worker's compensation cases, or non-covered procedures.
Make patient type changes based on documentation from Medical Records or Care Coordinators. Document all reservations and handle scheduling using hospital systems.
Verify insurance benefits and obtain pre-certification from third-party payers. Support patients with financial assistance and TennCare enrollment needs.
Gather demographic, medical, and financial information for patient accounts using computer systems. Participate with clinical and care management to improve collections and cash flow.
Analyze claims denial data to improve collections and workflow processes. Maintain professional interactions with patients, physicians, and staff.
Keep up to date with regulatory and insurance requirements. Maintain registration accuracy rate between 95-100%.
Explain treatment consent, financial policies, billing, and advanced beneficiary notices to patients/families. Recognize situations needing supervision and seek resources.
Provide patient assistance after registration and assist with bed tracking and coordination with Nursing Services.
Use hospital information systems for registration and scheduling. Communicate scheduling changes promptly.
Cross-train in scheduling, registration, verification, and pre-certification duties. Prepare patient account folders by scanning and indexing documents.
Adhere to safety standards and complete required education assignments. Participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Minimum one year experience in a hospital or financial setting, or at least three years of customer-facing/customer service experience.
High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
