Physician Support Representative III

The Physician Support Specialist performs routine and non-routine duties of a highly confidential nature involving patient care coordination, managing in-baskets and work queues, acting as a liaison between patients and care teams, and assisting with clinic coverage and projects. The role requires applying university policies and privacy standards.

Responsibilities include scheduling procedures, appointments, and tests with physician input; providing patients with procedure details; managing test result receipt and documentation; coordinating provider schedules; entering data into medical record systems; responding professionally to patient calls; managing daily in-basket/work queue activities; liaising with area providers; cross-coverage in shared clerical office; and supporting the Medical Records department as needed.

The position reports to the Office Manager and collaborates with administrator, nurse manager, medical director, director of operations, and healthcare providers.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associates degree in medical, secretarial, billing or related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience required
  • 1 year leadership experience preferred
  • Demonstrated customer service skills required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Experience with surgical/appointment scheduling software and electronic medical records preferred
