Fairview is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator for the Emergency Department at St. John’s Hospital in Maplewood, MN. This position works night shifts (2300-0730), 48 hours per 2 weeks with every other weekend rotation.
The unit provides care for diverse patient populations including pediatric to geriatric cases such as abdominal pains, falls, strokes, chest pain, and headaches. The coordinator will foster a welcoming environment with strong teamwork, empathy, and compassion.
Responsibilities include creating hospitality and efficiency in the unit, managing patient shadow charts, performing census management for admissions, transfers, and discharges, effective communication with patients, families, and staff, supporting holistic nursing theory, troubleshooting technology concerns, coordinating discharge information, obtaining patient records, assisting with patient registration and insurance verification, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and policies.
Preferred candidates have healthcare office experience, knowledge of Electronic Health Records, Health Unit Coordinator experience, and familiarity with medical terminology.
