The Health Information Manager / Medical Records Director at Serenity Oaks IRF is responsible for management, integrity, accuracy, and security of all patient health records in compliance with CMS IRF CoPs, CARF accreditation standards, HIPAA, and Louisiana LDH/DHH regulations.
Key responsibilities include directing and managing the HIM department, overseeing medical coding (ICD-10-CM/PCS and IRF-PAI) accuracy, managing release of information requests per HIPAA, ensuring completeness and timeliness of medical records, managing medical record deficiency tracking, coordinating with billing for IRF-PPS reimbursement and CMG assignment, developing HIM policies, recruiting and supervising staff, maintaining medical record retention schedules, coordinating survey preparations, managing EHR system functions related to HIM, participating in CARF program evaluations, overseeing management and security of records, and preparing reports and metrics for leadership.
Education and experience requirements include a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (BSHIM) from a CAHIIM-accredited program or equivalent, RHIA credential from AHIMA (required or in progress), and ideally two or more years of HIM management experience in acute care or IRF settings. Certification such as Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is preferred.
This role requires comprehensive knowledge of HIM principles, expert ICD-10-CM/PCS and IRF-PAI coding knowledge, thorough understanding of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules, CMS IRF CoPs, CARF standards, proficiency with EHR and HIM software, supervisory skills, and knowledge of Louisiana medical record retention requirements.

This is a full-time contract position located onsite in Hammond, Louisiana, with expected hours of 40 per week.
- Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (BSHIM) from a CAHIIM-accredited program or equivalent degree
