As an HIM Coordinator - Audit, you will work under the general supervision of the Manager of Health Information Management or designee, performing diversified duties to support the Health Information Management Department. Responsibilities include answering telephone requests for patient information, reviewing patient records for protected content and authorization requirements, preparing and scanning all discharged records daily, performing audits and correcting inaccurate data, determining physician record completion status, and serving as a resource for physicians regarding coding, documentation, and electronic record corrections. You will ensure compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA, and Massachusetts laws regarding confidential patient information and authorizations.
This position offers a hybrid schedule at the Southcoast Business Center in Fairhaven, MA, with day shift hours from 7:00am to 3:30pm.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree in a related field or equivalent knowledge and experience preferred
- Over 3 years of related work experience and/or completion of RHIT/RHIA program
- Knowledge of medical record content and terminology
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred
- Must comply with vaccination policies or obtain exemptions
Compensation is hourly with pay range of $16.72 to $28.06 per hour, dependent on experience.
