Medical Receptionist

Pennsylvania Retina Specialists, PC

We are a Retina sub-specialty ophthalmology practice seeking an experienced full-time Medical Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have proficient phone and computer skills for practice management, drug inventory, and electronic medical record software. Insurance knowledge is helpful. The position is based in Camp Hill, PA, with frequent rotation to the York office and occasional travel to satellite offices in Hershey and State College. Mileage reimbursement is provided for travel beyond the normal commute.

Shifts rotate mainly between 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, and 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Some shifts involve working in the phone room, requiring comfort and skill in patient phone interactions. Training is held at the Camp Hill office.

Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, checking patients in and out, processing payments, answering and triaging patient calls, coordinating with Insurance Verification and Billing departments, preparing patient encounter forms, managing patient letters, processing release of records requests, uploading appointment reminder calls, handling referral processing, and performing opening and closing duties. The role also requires rotation among satellite offices as scheduled.

Candidates should have excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office or related software is necessary.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of related experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under stress.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.
  • Comfortable with prolonged sitting and computer work.
