Workers Compensation Authorization Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented Authorization Specialist with strong experience in Workers’ Compensation and Physical Therapy authorizations. The ideal candidate will ensure timely and accurate processing of prior authorizations while maintaining compliance with NYS Workers’ Comp guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and track authorization requests in a timely manner
  • Communicate with providers, insurance carriers, and patients regarding authorization status
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records
  • Resolve Workers’ Comp authorization issues in collaboration with the medical team
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and medical coding standards

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Workers’ Compensation authorizations (Orthopedics or Pain Management preferred)
  • Knowledge of NYS Workers’ Comp Medical Treatment Guidelines and WCB Medical Portal
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and ICD-9 / ICD-10 coding
  • Experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations
  • Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Work Hours: 40 hours per week, full-time, Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm, on site.

Location: On-site in East Meadow, NY 11554 (relocation required before starting).
