The Medical Records Clerk supports various departments including medical, behavioral health, dental, billing, and medical records to assist the organization's mission.
Responsibilities include handling telephone services, educating patients on referral visit schedules, clerical duties, preparing work areas for daily operations, maintaining patient confidentiality, scheduling and registering patients, managing medical record creation and retrieval, updating charts, coordinating with clinical staff, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
The role requires independent work, effective communication with patients and team members, adherence to HIPAA, and a calm demeanor in stressful situations.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
- High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree preferred
- Computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Minimum one year work experience in a related organizational role
- Bilingual in Spanish is helpful
- Correct English grammar and spelling
- Basic math skills
- Ability to operate office equipment
- Understanding of office policies and procedures
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
