Electronic Health Record Trainer

The Electronic Health Record (EHR) Trainer supports staff to use technology consistently to promote quality patient care, safety, and confidentiality. The role involves designing and delivering technical training programs on EHR software applications for end users, including new hires and ongoing system updates. Responsibilities include determining training objectives, creating lesson plans and materials, configuring training environments, and providing technical support.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design, assist, and deliver EHR training aligned with organizational mission and strategic objectives
  • Train multiple healthcare applications and staff including students and non-employees
  • Ensure training complies with policies, laws, meaningful use criteria, and Joint Commission requirements
  • Assess and determine training needs and develop instructor-led and online training programs
  • Provide refresher training and communicate EHR system changes
  • Facilitate patient portal education for staff and patients
  • Troubleshoot EHR-related training issues
  • Maintain training materials, schedules, registrations, assessments, and reports
  • Identify and train expert trainers; provide train-the-trainer sessions
  • Collaborate with clinical informatics and technical support to improve training effectiveness
  • Participate in committees and professional development
  • Comply with healthcare regulations, HIPAA, confidentiality, and agency policies

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare, teaching, informatics or related field preferred; combination of work experience and education considered
  • Healthcare experience required
  • Experience with EHR systems (Cerner preferred)
  • Experience mentoring and training in classroom settings desirable
  • Experience in primary care, rural, and tribal health preferred

Work hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., full-time 37.5 hours/week

Relocation assistance up to $5,000 available for Alaska locations (Anchorage or Seward)

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience in healthcare, teaching, or informatics
  • Experience working with EHRs, preferably Cerner
  • Healthcare sector experience required
  • Experience in mentoring and training in classroom settings desirable
  • Experience in primary care, rural, or tribal health settings preferred
  • Ability to comply with healthcare regulations, HIPAA, and confidentiality standards
  • Strong communication and instructional skills
  • Professional references and background check required
