The Health Information Specialist I is responsible for processing release of information (ROI), specifically medical record requests, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and customer service, while safeguarding patient privacy and complying with HIPAA regulations. This intermediate-level role requires at least 1 year of related Health Information Management experience and travels 75% or more locally between sites.
Key responsibilities include receiving and processing patient health information requests, maintaining confidentiality and compliance with policies, organizing and securing medical records, creating digital images for electronic records, communicating with internal and external customers, assisting with administrative duties, training new associates, and supporting facility projects and initiatives.
The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, based onsite in Anderson, Indiana, with travel to Kokomo as needed. Excellent customer service, clerical skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office are required. The role involves a high-volume production environment and requires attention to detail, strong data entry skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Candidates must be 18 or older, able to travel locally 75% or more, work overtime during peak seasons, and have at least one year of health information-related experience. Prior medical office experience and production or metric-based work experience are preferred.
