This position is responsible for all steps in the medical billing process in a primary care and behavioral health social service setting with specialized LGBTQ+ care and services. Duties include processing medical, psych, and behavioral health claims in the EMR, correcting data entry errors in eClinicalWorks, submitting claims to payers, posting payments, managing AR follow-up, handling denials and rejections, and supporting accurate patient billing and collections.
The role starts in the office with potential for a hybrid arrangement after the training period.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a medical billing specialist in a primary care and behavioral health setting preferred
- Experience working with multiple third-party payers, including Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Care, and HMO/PPO plans
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, HMOs, and private payer systems
- Familiarity with EMR systems, preferably eClinicalWorks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data systems, including Electronic Medical Records
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and detail-oriented skills
- Ability to tactfully interact with patients and work in a busy environment with changing priorities
- Valid Florida driver's license and proof of insurance
- Reliable vehicle required
- Must pass fingerprinting, Level II background checks, and E-Verify employment eligibility verification
- Sign-on bonus of $800 after 90 days of successful employment
