This role focuses on reviewing inpatient health records, assigning diagnoses and procedure codes, determining DRG and POA indicators, and supporting accurate reimbursement and compliance for acute hospital records.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion or training in ICD-10-CM/PCS required, with documentation provided upon interview
- 95% coding accuracy required
- Associate degree in a health information-related field preferred
- 2 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute hospital setting required
- AHIMA or AAPC credential required upon hire (CCS, CCS-P, CCA, or CPC)
- RHIT or RHIA preferred upon hire
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG, POA, and coding guidelines
- Proficiency with MS Office, encoder software, and computer-assisted coding tools
- Ability to query physicians and communicate clearly in writing and verbally
