Coder II (Inpatient)

Coder II (Inpatient) with Texas Health Resources, supporting the HIMS Coding Department in a 100% remote role with flexible hours and work-life balance.

This role focuses on reviewing inpatient health records, assigning diagnoses and procedure codes, determining DRG and POA indicators, and supporting accurate reimbursement and compliance for acute hospital records.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Completion or training in ICD-10-CM/PCS required, with documentation provided upon interview
  • 95% coding accuracy required
  • Associate degree in a health information-related field preferred
  • 2 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute hospital setting required
  • AHIMA or AAPC credential required upon hire (CCS, CCS-P, CCA, or CPC)
  • RHIT or RHIA preferred upon hire
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG, POA, and coding guidelines
  • Proficiency with MS Office, encoder software, and computer-assisted coding tools
  • Ability to query physicians and communicate clearly in writing and verbally
