The ideal candidate will have experience in Healthcare Accounts Receivable (AR) and collections, along with proficiency in Epic. This role is responsible for advanced coding and appeals activities, investigating payer issues, ensuring timely filing of appeals to insurance companies, and managing charge corrections.
Key responsibilities include:
- Appealing claims denied by third-party payers and preparing documentation to support the validity of claims
- Investigating and resolving reimbursement issues in collaboration with coding staff and faculty
- Working directly with physicians and clinical staff to provide documentation feedback and develop appeals
- Researching payer policies and processes
- Reviewing clinical documentation in the medical record to identify pertinent facts for diagnoses and procedures
- Coding evaluation and management services at the appropriate CPT level and ensuring ICD codes are linked correctly
- Completing charge corrections when necessary
- Working assigned Epic work queues and CRM tasks, and reviewing remittance advice for rejections and payment accuracy
- Performing accounts receivable functions in the Epic billing system, including updates to insurance information and demographics
- Handling special projects as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Procedural Coder (CPC) required, or RHIT/RHIA certification
- Experience with healthcare accounts receivable and collections
- Proficiency in Epic
