This role is for an experienced inpatient clinical coder who will work remotely and assign ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes for complex inpatient medical records. The position supports accurate MS-DRG and APR-DRG assignment, documentation integrity, regulatory compliance, and quality outcomes.
Requirements & Qualifications
- AHIMA credential: CCS, RHIA, or RHIT
- Minimum 3 years of recent acute inpatient hospital coding experience
- Experience coding at a large acute care hospital
- Proficiency assigning ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes
- Strong understanding of MS-DRGs, APR-DRGs, POA indicators, Official Coding Guidelines, and Coding Clinic
- Experience with EMR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar
- Experience with 3M, TruCode, or comparable encoder software
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
