As an ER Medical Coder specializing in E/M, injections, and infusions, you will review clinical documentation and assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes across outpatient settings. This role supports healthcare clients by ensuring coding accuracy, regulatory compliance, and productivity standards for Emergency Department, outpatient surgery, observation, and diagnostic encounters.
This is a remote position with flexible hours, Monday through Friday. You will work independently while collaborating with providers and coding teams to support quality coding services for Cognizant healthcare clients.
Requirements & Qualifications
- One of the following certifications: CCS, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, or COC.
- At least 2 years of facility-based outpatient coding experience.
- Experience coding Emergency Department encounters, including facility Evaluation & Management (E/M) coding.
- Experience with injections and infusion coding in an outpatient or hospital setting.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and payer regulations related to medical coding and reimbursement.
- Ability to interpret medical records, reports, and chart documentation accurately.
- Strong analytical, judgment, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to navigate multiple systems simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
