OSF HealthCare is seeking a coder to assign accurate ICD-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes for diagnoses and procedures across introductory and moderate-complexity coding assignments.
This role abstracts required information for statistical and reimbursement purposes and works closely with the revenue cycle team to support appropriate billing and reimbursement.
The position is located in Bloomington, IL and follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with a negotiable start time.
Candidates in Illinois or Michigan with inpatient coding experience, or those who have completed PCS procedure coding training, are encouraged to apply.
Required qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an AAPC or AHIMA approved coding certificate program
- One of the following certifications: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC, CPC-A, or CPC-H
- Or RHIA/RHIT eligibility with certification obtained within 1 year of hire
- Completed medical coding courses focused on ICD-CM/PCS and CPT coding guidelines
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, disease processes, medical records, and hospital procedures
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft software and basic keyboard/software application skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, verbally, by phone, email, and in person
Preferred qualifications
- 1 year of professional or hospital coding experience
