The Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center requires medical coding support for inpatient, outpatient, and observation encounters.
The contractor will code diagnoses and procedures in accordance with VA guidelines, ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, and applicable federal policies. The role requires maintaining an overall coding accuracy rate of 95% or above, completing provider queries when needed, and meeting established productivity standards.
Work may be performed remotely in support of the VA Medical Center in Spokane, WA. The contractor may work any hours desired within compliance requirements.
- Active coding credential required: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or equivalent
- Prior experience with VA or federal healthcare coding strongly preferred
- Knowledge of VA-specific coding requirements
- Understanding of medical clinics and clinical documentation
- Ability to locate Financial Identification Numbers (FINs) and link documents correctly in Cerner/Oracle
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
- Must complete required VA cybersecurity/privacy, NDA, and Cerner/Oracle training before starting
