Optum is seeking a medical coder with expertise in facility outpatient coding for same day surgery. In this role, you will assign ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and modifier codes for facility services while following official coding guidelines and client-specific requirements.
This is a full-time position working Monday through Friday during normal business hours, with occasional overtime as needed. The role allows telecommuting from anywhere within the U.S., subject to telecommuter policy and internet/workspace requirements.
You will also support coding quality and productivity goals, participate in department meetings and education, and help maintain current coding knowledge.
- High school diploma or GED
- AHIMA and/or AAPC professional coder certification such as CCA, CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CCS-P, or CPC
- 2+ years of experience with ICD-10, CPT, and modifiers
- 2+ years of experience in acute surgery
- Intermediate-level PC experience in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Excel and EMR systems
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and communication skills
- Knowledge of Medicare APC codes, NCCI edits, Medicare LCD/NCD policies, and medical terminology
- Ability to maintain required coding quality and productivity standards
