Optum is seeking a Medical Coder to provide coding and coding auditing services directly to providers. The role focuses on ensuring the accuracy and completeness of clinical coding across departments, supporting outcome management and specialty registries, and applying appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes to patient health information for data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing.
This is a full-time role working Monday through Friday, 8-hour shifts, with flexibility to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Professional coder certification from AHIMA and/or AAPC, such as CPC-A, RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CPC, COC, CPC-P, or CCS, maintained annually
- 2+ years of experience with PCs in a Windows environment, including MS Excel and EMR systems
- 2+ years of experience with ICD-10 and CPT coding
- 2+ years of experience with cardiology coding
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of post-certification medical coding experience
- 1+ years of outpatient physician coding (Pro-Fee) experience
- Experience with encoder systems such as Encoder Pro and EPIC
- Ability to manage a significant workload, work efficiently under pressure, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
