Seeking a certified billing and coder to support hospice and primary care coding operations.
This role is based in the local office nearest the employee and works a standard Monday through Friday schedule, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The organization is a physician group serving South Carolina and Georgia, providing care across facilities, homes, clinics, and virtual visits. The team emphasizes coordinated, compassionate, patient-centered care.
Requirements & Qualifications
Responsibilities
- Assign CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes accurately for medical procedures, diagnoses, and services.
- Ensure documentation supports code assignments and billing.
- Maintain current certification CEUs.
- Follow coding department processes that comply with CMS, HIPAA, and OIG requirements.
- Stay current on coding guideline and regulation updates.
- Support team efficiency goals and share relevant coding updates with staff.
- Assist with general administrative tasks and use software systems effectively.
- Communicate with the care team to support coordinated care.
- Participate in coaching calls and complete other assigned duties.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred.
- National coding certification required, preferably CPC, RHIT, CCA, CSC, or CMC.
- Minimum of 1 year of coding experience in a healthcare setting, preferably primary care or related specialties.
- Proficiency in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Experience with billing software and electronic health records, preferably Athena.
- Experience with billing across all places of service.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel between offices and facilities.
- Must have a valid driver's license, insured automobile, and reliable transportation.
