Responsible for all facets of medical billing coding audits for physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). Supports the Billing Department’s ongoing operations to help achieve patient care and financial goals. Provides cross-coverage for Billing Specialists as needed to ensure efficient practice operations and maximum patient satisfaction.
Performs coding review, auditing, charge entry, payment posting, claims follow-up, refunds processing, and patient account support. Maintains credentialing files, updates coding sets in Athena, and helps ensure compliance with Medicare, OSHA, and HIPAA requirements.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in a surgical subspecialty private practice setting
- CPC certification required
- Experience with coding, billing, charge entry, insurance processing, collections, and practice management systems
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, lab/radiology tests, and medications preferred
- Strong computer skills, including Windows-based systems, spreadsheet software, word processing, and electronic medical records
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple duties accurately
- Strong understanding of medical compliance requirements, including HIPAA and Medicare
- Must be able to sit, stand, and continuously use a keyboard and mouse
