This role supports revenue cycle operations by correcting coding-related edits, billing in Epic, and abstracting operative reports in 3M and/or Epic.
The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to work independently in a remote setting, and a commitment to maintaining high accuracy and timely completion of patient accounts.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Formal coursework in medical terminology, disease processes, anatomy and physiology.
Formal coursework in medical coding and regulatory compliance.
Required coding certification through AHIMA (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CCA) or AAPC (CPC, COC, or specialty equivalent); apprentice status is not accepted.
Minimum 2 years of operative report abstracting experience in one or more of the following specialties:
- General Surgery
- Trauma
- Neurosurgery
Minimum 3 years of operative report abstracting experience in one of the above specialties.
Advanced knowledge of medical coding rules and regulations, including compliance, payer policy, CMS regulations, and CCI.
Preferred: 1 year of Epic experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
