Multiple openings are available for experienced inpatient coding professionals to join a confidential search for a healthcare consulting organization that partners with hospitals nationwide. The role focuses on improving coding accuracy, clinical documentation, reimbursement outcomes, and overall revenue integrity.
In this position, you will perform MS-DRG and APR-DRG validation reviews for inpatient medical records, audit ICD-10-CM/PCS coding and DRG assignment, and review provider documentation. You will also prepare audit rationales, physician queries, and appeal letters related to coding denials, educate coding teams on coding guidelines and best practices, and help ensure compliance with CMS regulations, Official Coding Guidelines, Coding Clinic guidance, and UHDDS standards.
The organization is seeking a self-motivated professional who can work independently in a remote environment and maintain a high standard of quality and accuracy.
Must have:
- AHIMA certification required: CCS, RHIT, or RHIA
- 5+ years of inpatient ICD-10-CM/PCS coding experience
- Extensive knowledge of MS-DRG and APR-DRG methodologies
- Experience with DRG validation, clinical validation, coding audits, CDI, quality assurance, or revenue integrity
- Strong written communication skills for audit findings and appeal letters
- Familiarity with 3M, TruCode, Epic, Microsoft Office, and other HIM technologies preferred
- Ability to thrive in a remote, self-directed work environment
