Performs coding, DRG, and abstracting functions for medical records, quality assessment, and billing purposes. Codes Huntsville Hospital medical records using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 codes. Abstracts key data elements according to medical record review criteria and performs coding quality assurance as needed.
HS/GED required.
Preferred post-high school education in anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.
CCS certification required.
ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, or CPT coding experience in a hospital or physician's office preferred.
Must have excellent communication skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to prioritize and change tasks frequently.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Must be able to use computers, word processing and spreadsheet software, fax machines, and copy machines.
