Remote ED Coder for the Health Information Management department.
This role is responsible for coding outpatient emergency department records, including injections/infusions, facility E/M, ICD-10-CM diagnoses, ED procedures, modifiers, and related charges. The coder will ensure accurate CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10 assignment for coded records, assist with lab accounts as needed, communicate with the workforce manager when necessary, and perform other duties as assigned.
The position requires strong knowledge of acute care outpatient coding workflows, 3M encoder, and Meditech, along with the ability to maintain high accuracy and productivity standards.
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2+ years of recent acute care hospital outpatient ED, injections/infusions, and facility E/M coding and abstracting experience
- Extensive knowledge of 3M encoder and Meditech software
- CCS, RHIA, RHIT, CPC, COC, or CPC-H credential required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including query writing
- Technically savvy and able to work independently
- Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology
- Ability to maintain 95% accuracy or better and meet productivity standards
