As a Profee Coder with Parallon, you will review and code clinical notes and operative reports for assigned specialty areas. You will provide documentation feedback and advice to physicians, practice management, and other coders, support the denials team in resolving coding-related denials, and help maintain charge capture accuracy and coding quality. This role supports Central Coding as a service organization focused on meeting customer needs and improving revenue cycle performance.
Key responsibilities
- Review and code clinical notes and operative reports for assigned specialty or specialties.
- Coordinate and reconcile multiple schedules to ensure complete charge capture.
- Enter codes into the billing system in a timely manner.
- Partner with the A/R team to follow up on coding-related denials and rejections and recommend new or updated coding edits.
- Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines and relevant federal regulations.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of two years of professional fee coding and/or reimbursement experience required.
- Relevant education may substitute for the experience requirement.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology preferred.
- Knowledge of pathophysiology preferred.
- Coding certification through AHIMA or AAPC required; work experience may be accepted in lieu of credential.
