BJC HealthCare is hiring an Inpatient Coder I to assign diagnosis and procedure codes for inpatient encounters while following regulatory and coding guidelines.
The role involves reviewing patient encounters, abstracting required data elements, ensuring compliant coding, and collaborating with CDI, HIM Operations, leadership, and other departments to maintain medical record integrity and coding compliance.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- CCS, CCA, RHIA, or RHIT certification
- No prior experience required
Preferred
- 2–5 years of experience
Additional Details
- Must be able to accurately review inpatient documentation and assign codes in a timely manner
- Familiarity with coding conventions, regulatory guidelines, and DRG assignment
