Responsible for assisting with billing and third-party payer functions. This role focuses on identifying delinquent accounts, managing aging balances, contacting patients regarding collections, resubmitting claims to the appropriate payer, and helping establish payment plans. The position also supports customer service overflow calls, helps reduce days in accounts receivable, and performs other assigned duties as needed.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of medical collections experience preferred
- Experience with medical practice billing software required
Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Windows-based systems and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding and electronic billing
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, staff, patients, families, and physicians
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
- Able to handle frequent interruptions and re-prioritize tasks as needed
- Proficiency in medical terminology
- Detail oriented
