Patient Account Representative

Ridgeview

This is a non-benefited part-time position with a 20-hour workweek, ideal for candidates seeking a flexible daytime schedule. The role supports Ridgeview Medical Center by handling accounts receivable functions, including claim submission, reconciliation, collections, payment posting, and remittance reconciliation. The position has the opportunity to work remotely after successful completion of training.

Job functions

  • Review clearinghouse transactions and rejections, make claim corrections, and generate claims for submission or corrected claims
  • Review aged accounts receivable and monitor outstanding insurance claims
  • Post payments accurately and timely to patient accounts
  • Answer inquiries regarding insurance and billing concerns and follow up with the appropriate source when needed
  • Complete remittance reconciliation
  • Assist and refer external customers to the proper resources for questions
  • Provide professional and courteous customer service to internal and external customers
  • Maintain knowledge of insurance company policies and billing guidelines
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications

Minimum education/work experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 1 year of professional medical billing experience, or a performance history demonstrating the ability to problem solve, maintain attention to detail, and take initiative

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Demonstrated skills in claim submission
  • Ability to meet and maintain necessary background checks
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Analytical skills
  • Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of basic computer functions and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to serve patients in a friendly and efficient manner
  • Ability to perform basic math functions
  • Familiarity with medical terminology preferred
